Colorbar I-Glide Eye Pencil: Jaded & Cocobar ~ Review and Swatch

Colorbar I-glide eyeliner pencils have been around for many years now, and being an eyeliner hoarder myself (:P), I can safely say that these are the BEST eyeliner pencils I have tried so far. The formula is simply amazing. I am reviewing two shades which I have currently ~ Jaded and Cocobar.

Colorbar I-glide Eye pencil review

Colorbar I-glide eyeliner pencils come in a silver cardboard packaging which has all the details. The eyeliner pencil is made of silver colored plastic with color coded ends and shade name engraved along the end. The color coded ends make it easier to identify the shade from multiple pencils. This is a sharpenable eyeliner and not retractable, which leads to product wastage whenever you sharpen it, and being made of plastic adds to even more wastage! This is probably the only con I could find with these. Oh, and also, these cannot be applied to waterline.

The formula of these eyeliner pencils is amazing. They are super creamy and deliver full color in one swipe itself. The texture is super smooth and glides easily on the eyelids. Once set, the eyeliner is smudge proof and has excellent staying power (best one I have seen so far). It does not budge at all (even with light rubbing of eyes). It stays put until removed by an oil based remover. I have oily lids which have started to become hooded of late so my eyeliners tend to bleed to my socket line. But this one does not budge at all.

Colorbar I-glide eyeliner come in 15 shades with different finish, and each shade suits Indian skin tone perfectly.

Jaded (a repurchase)

Colorbar I-glide eyeliner in shade Jaded is a beautiful dark green color with pearl finish. This color looks super pretty when worn in parties. This is a jewel toned shade, so it may not be suitable for office wear. But you can make it work for office wear by applying a sheer black eyeliner (I use Maybelline Colossal eyeliner) on top of this shade. You can also wear it the way I have done HERE. I use this method to wear eyeliner shades which are too light or which are too bright to wear for office.

I usually do not purchase same product or same shade twice, especially in eyeliners and nail polish, but the shade is so gorgeous that I had to purchase it again, and I will purchase it later also when this one gets finished 😛

 

 

 

 

 

Cocobar

Colorbar I-glide eyeliner in shade Cocobar is a dark brown eyeliner. Usually, brown eyeliners do not show well on medium to dark skin tone, but this shade is perfectly dark to be visible on the eyelids. Brown eyeliner gives a softer look as compared to black eyeliners. I had been hunting a good brown eyeliner which shows up on my eyelids, and after numerous swatches at every brand counter I find, I stumbled on this beautiful shade. I will probably purchase it again. Though it does not contain any shimmer or glitter, still you can’t apply it on waterline. I tried it once and my eyes were irritated whole day. Also, if your eyelids are darker, this shade may not show properly on the eyes; so do swatch it at the counter before buying if you have dark eyelids.

 

 

 

 

 

Overall,

Colorbar I-Glide Eye Pencils are super smooth and very pigmented eyeliners. It gives full color in one stroke itself. However, being sharpenable pencils, these lead to product wastage. Also, these cannot be applied to waterline. Jaded is a beautiful jewel toned dark green color, and cocobar is dark brown in color. Once set, this eyeliner does not budge AT ALL. These eyeliner come in a variety of shades (15 in total) and finish, and you must check it out at the counters. You will not regret buying these, I can guarantee this.

Colorbar Kiss Proof Lip Stain : Hollywood ~ Review & Swatch

 

Colorbar launched their range of Liquid matte lipsticks- Kiss Proof Lip stain a few months back. Liquid mattifying lipsticks are so in these days and Colorbar’s is the first one I picked. I am reviewing a gorgeous red shade – Hollywood 001 here.

Colorbar Kiss Proof Lip stains come in a silver cardboard packaging with a color-coded sticker on top. The packaging has all the details about the product. The lip stain tube is silver in color and made up of plastic with silver-colored screw cap. The tube is fairly long and has a transparent band along the length of the tube to show the color of the lip stain. This see through window comes in very handy when you have multiple shades of this range. The applicator is  doe foot applicator with a hole in middle, which helps in holding more product. The applicator picks up enough product for one swipe. The texture of the lip stain is creamy and is very pigmented. One swipe is enough for full color intensity. The lip stain feels glossy on application but it settles down to matte finish within a minute.

The packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.

The lip stain is highly pigmented which leaves room for errors while working along the outlines of the lips. I use a lip liner as I can never apply it properly.

Hollywood 001 is a classic red color lip stain which will work across skin tones. If you are looking for a true red color, do check this shade. It will brighten up any complexion, no doubt.

The lip stain feels comfortable and light weight. It dries down to super matte finish which does not bother initially, but I tend to crave for a lip balm after a few hours as it makes the lips very dry.

This lip stain does not transfer but I see it flaking upon touching with fingers.

The lip stain settles into fine lines when it starts to fade after 4-5 hours.

There are 8 shades in this range as of now. I wish it had more colors to choose from.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you are looking for long lasting true matte lipstick in red color, do check this one out. It feels light weight and is superbly pigmented. You can get full color intensity in one swipe itself. Hollywood shade is a classic red color which will work on all skin tones. Colorbar kiss proof lip stain is quite comfortable to wear, but you may need a lip balm after a few hours. This range has only 8 shades as of now and some bright and dark colors would be a good addition to this range. Overall, I am in love with this lip stain, so much so that I have already purchased another color from the range 😀

Colorbar Heavy Metal Nail Polish : Pink Topaz 006 ~ Review & Swatch

 

Colorbar has recently launched a new range of Nail polish- the Heavy Metal Collection. There are seven beautiful shades in this collection and I couldn’t help but pick one shade myself. I bought the shade Pink Topaz 006 and I will be reviewing it here.

Colorbar Heavy Metal nail polish comes in a rectangular bottle with shade name sticker on top of the cap.The cap has a colorful wavy art design which is signature to this range. The brush is decent and picks enough nail polish for one stroke application.

Pink Topaz 006 is a beautiful deep onion pink color with pearl finish. This polish is sheer in one coat and it takes 3-4 coats to build to full opacity. Pearl finish nail polish tend to be streaky, but this one is not at all streaky. This nail polish is fast drying, so you do not have to wait much between the coats. The staying power of this nail polish is good. I did not see any tip wear for 3 days and chipping started only after 5 days.

Even though I picked one color (for now ;)), the other shades worth checking out are : Emerald Heights (emerald color), Chrome Sapphire (Yellowish gold) and Garnet mist (maroonish-brown).

 

 

 

 

 

This nail polish looks more pink in some of the swatches above, but it is more deep and purplish pink in color

Final Thoughts

Heavy Metal range by Colorbar consists of beautiful deep colors with pearl finish.  Pink Topaz 006 is a deep onion pink color with beautiful pearl finish. This nail polish is fast drying and fairly long lasting. Even though the consistency is sheer, the color is buildable in 3-4 coats. Only thing is, it could have been a little cheaper. The quantity is same as the Colorbar Exclusive nail polish range, only they have introduced new colors. Other than that, the formula and color is excellent. I will probably purchase more colors of this range

Colorbar Pro Black Crackle Top Coat : Review & Swatch

Crackle nail art is a lazy girl’s manicure saver. This is one of my favorite innovation in nail art.  I was browsing through my old archives and I stumbled on this nail polish from Colorbar. Now days the nail polishes have evolved and almost every brand have something or other for nail art. But 2 years back crackle (or shatter, whatever you like to call it) was really ‘in’ and it was the only polish even remotely related to nail art. I bought it 2-3 years back and because this nail polish is still available at the counters, I thought I would put my old photos to good use.

 

Colorbar was the first brand to bring in crackle nail polish. It is applied on top of another base color to create this shatter effect. I think every girl should have one crackle nail polish. And black color is the safest bet as it will go well with an array of colors. Plus, it is a perfect nail art for Lazy girls. For more nail art for Lazy girls, check another great polish HERE.

 

Price: Rs 500

This nailpolish comes in a classic Colorbar Pro bottle which is a fat circular bottle (similar to OPI). The glass bottle is clear and the cap has shatter effect to indicate that it is a crackle polish. The brush is long and decently wide. The quantity is enough and will easily last atleast an year, that too if you apply it regularly. Unlike normal nail polish, crackle nail polish is slightly on thicker side. Colorbar Pro crackle nail polish dries into matte finish.

The crackle nail polish dries into a unique pattern everytime. The crackle effect depends on how thin you apply the coat. If you apply a thin coat, there will be many cracks, but not very widespread. If you apply a thicker coat, the number of cracks may be less but they will be apart enough for the base color to pop. I like to apply a thick layer.

Crackle nail polish is different from other nail polish mainly because it dries differently. This is because ethanol is added to the polish which makes it dry quick and uneven. So, as it dries rapidly and unevenly, the nail polish applied on nail shrinks giving the appearance of cracks and revealing the base color underneath.

Colorbar Pro crackle top coat dries completely within 3-5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the coat applied. I like to apply a clear nail polish over the crackled effect as it dries matte. It lasts 4-5 days before chipping.

One word of caution though, avoid doing multiple coats of this polish, and if you feel the coat is not thick enough to your liking, apply another coat really fast before the crackle effect of previous coat starts to show.

 

I have applied a thicker coat of this polish that is why the cracks are wide.

Overall, I love this nailpolish. Colorbar Pro crackle top coat dries quick, gives a good crackle effect and wears well. Easy peasy, effortless and fun nail art in no time. Dries into matte finish which can be made glossier by adding a top coat of clear nail polish. However, it is a bit pricey.

Colorbar Black Fiesta Nail Lacquer ~ Masquerade : Review & Swatch

 

I am so excited while writing this post. This is the first time any nail polish brand has launched Polka dot/ Confetti / Graffiti nail polish in India. Maybelline Colorshow, Loreal had their entire Polka dots range in US but it never launched in India. Finally, Colorbar heard us nail art lovers’ plea and launched its amazing Black Fiesta collection.

Black Fiesta is a range of top coat from Colorbar which consists of matte glitter in various sizes and shapes. Overall, this nail polish gives a fun paint-splattered effect. This nail polish predominantly contain black specks and glitter along with the colored hexagonals, hence the name ‘Black’. This range is launched in four shades- Green Holiday (Green), Red Fete (Red), Merry Blue (Blue) and Masquerade (multi colored).

Price: Rs 500

 

 

When I saw these beauties sitting on the Colorbar counter, I didn’t think twice and immediately bought one. All the shades are equally beautiful and I had a tough time choosing the Masquerade one.

Colorbar Black Fiesta Masquerade Review

Packaging:

This comes in a round glass bottle which is sturdy and does not break if it slips your hand (Dont smash it on the floor to check its strength though!). The packaging is same as the Colorbar Pro Nail Lacquer (Rs 350 nail polishes) and the Glitterati range. The brush is long enough and perfectly wide which picks up the right amount of glitter and covers the entire nail in 2 strokes (I hate thin brushes in nail polish which not only require multiple application but also end up streaky). The shade name is written on top of the brush. This comes in 15 ml size which is HUGE. Even if you use this top coat religiously, it will last at least an entire year for sure.

 

Color:

Black Fiesta is a range of top coat, so the base color is transparent. The glitters in Masquerade contains

• Medium sized hexagonals in different colors – peach, yellow, lime green, cobalt blue, red, light blue and red
• black colored dots
• little black strips

This nail polish is loaded with the glitters which remain suspended and does not settle down at the bottom of the bottle. The glitter does not tug and the nail polish settles into a smooth finish.

When you apply this top coat, the hexagonals may not spread evenly on their own and one has to spread and place them evenly themselves, especially if you are applying a thin coat.

But if you apply a thick coat or multiple strokes, the black dots and strips may cover the colored hexagonals making it more black and less colorful, as the hex (colors) get covered by the dots/strips.

The hexagonals do not fall off with time but the lighter ones do start to discolor around the edges after 4 days, but that is visible only if you look very closely so one need not worry. This nail polish is not fast drying. Even though the surface of polish dries fast and it feels dry to touch, but if you do some work involving your nails, this polish will smear.

Staying power:

I am IMPRESSED with the staying power. Normally nail polishes do not stay this long on my nails. Any nail polish I wear, I start seeing teeny tiny tip wear (especially on right hand) from next day itself. And by 3-4 days I start to see proper tip wear (not chipping). But this nail polish surprised me. It may be because this is a top coat and I usually do not wear a top coat. But overall, this is really long lasting. Stayed put for one week! (minor chipping on right hand started around 4- 5th day!).

As this is a glitter polish its removal is such a pain! Even more difficult than other regular glitter polish because of the hexagonals, which are not only bigger than other glitter but also sticks tightly to the nail. It will shred the cotton ball and will take a lot of time to remove completely. However, I’ve done a tutorial on how to remove such tough glitter polishes. Check it HERE. You will thank me later for this tutorial after you try removing it in conventional way 😀

Overall, I LOVE this nail polish. This is an amazing top coat for instant nail art. If you love nail art but don’t have the patience to do it, Black Fiesta range is the perfect solution for you- fun pop nail art in no time! It stays really really long and looks super chic. I am impressed. This is difficult to remove though. And I wish they came in smaller packaging. That way one can try all colors because c’mon,  nobody is going to buy all four colors at this price even if they wanted to (Unless, they work in nail art salon) 😀
