Chambor Dazzle Eye Pencil Review & Swatch

I cannot have enough colored eyeliners and purple eyeliners are my weakness. I have brown eyes and purple and green eyeliners look great on brown eyes. I had first purchased Chambor purple dazzle eyeliner about 6-7 years back and I have been repurchasing it ever since. This is my all time fav eyeliner shade. If I had to choose one eye makeup product for life, Purple Dazzle by Chambor would be it!  I have reviewed two other purple eyeliners before: Sephora (brown-plum color with pearl finish) and L’Oreal’s Le Smokey (blackish purple). I have a couple more purple eyeliners which I will review soon. Speaking of purple, have you checked some other gorgeous purple makeup products HERE?

I am reviewing three shades of Chambor Dazzle eyeliner in this post – Black Dazzle, Purple Dazzle and Teal Dazzle.

Chambor Dazzle Eye Pencil Review

Chambor Dazzle eyeliner pencils come in twist up plastic liner  with plastic cap which shuts tight.  The outer cardboard packaging has all the manufacturing and ingredient details. The white floral detailing on the liner looks attractive and shade name is printed along the side. The body of the eyeliner pencil is color coordinated to the shade so it is easy to spot if you have multiple shades. However, the recent packaging feels a little flimsy around the swivel up joint. The eyeliner twists one way and is non retractable, which is not very convenient to use as you never come to know when the eyeliner is about to finish. One time my eyeliner finished when I had lined one eye and started to line another! Luckily I had a fresh backup option with me. Also, if you twist more than what is required you cannot swivel it back down.

The texture of these eyeliner is amazing. It is not too creamy or too hard, just perfect to line the eyes smoothly. It glides on the eyes without tugging or pulling the eyelids. The pigmentation is good (though not as pigmented as Colorbar I-glides) and delivers good color in one thick swipe. You may need 2-3 swipes to build up the color intensity.

Chambor Dazzle eye pencil lasts very long. It will not budge until you remove it with oil based remover. It doesnot smudge or transfer to lower lash line (unlike THIS eyeliner by Colorbar). There is no glitter fallout in glitter shades.  If you have to put makeup on for long hours (for long journeys or weddings), these eyeliner pencils are a safe bet.

I donot advise applying these eye pencils on lower lash line as these always irritate my eyes when I do.

These eye pencils are bit pricey for the quantity but if you want a true long wear smudgeproof eyeliner these pencils are great. Also, the shade selection is amazing. I have my heart set on the Purple Dazzle shade, a color which I cannot find in other brands except Sephora which is even costlier than this!

Black Dazzle –  pigmented black color with matte finish

Purple Dazzle – blackish purple with purple microglitter. Glitter is not OTT and visible only when looked closely. This looks almost black from a distance and is my fav eyeliner for work. It is subtle enough for office wear, but shimmery enough to add a little oomph.

Teal Dazzle – beautiful teal blue color with pearl finish. Will suit all skintones.

Overall, Chambor Dazzle Eye pencil come in swivel up non retractable eyeliner packaging with cap which shuts tight. The texture is smooth and glides on eyelids without tugging/pulling. The pigmentation is good and need 2-3 swipes for full color intensity. The eyeliner is really transferproof and long lasting. It will not budge or smudge until you remove it with oil based remover. Shade selection of the Dazzle range is good. However, it is bit pricey compared to many other alternatives available. Also, the non retractable format is difficult to work with as you never come to know how much product is left. Also, if you swivel up more quantity than required, it cannot be retracted back. Black Dazzle is a pigmented black shade with matte finish. Teal Dazzle is beautiful teal color which will suit all skintones. Purple Dazzle is a gorgeous blackish purple with purple microshimmer. I absolutely love the shade Purple Dazzle and I have been repurchasing it for 6-7 years, will continue to purchase it in future as well!

Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal ~ Just Blue : Review & Swatch

Colorbar Just Smokey range has been around for some years now and I am reviewing a beautiful blackish blue color- Just Blue 005 in this post.

Colorbar makes really good eyeliners and their I-glide range is my absolute favorite. Check some of the gorgeous shades HERE and HERE.

Price: Rs 650 for 1.2 g

Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal Just Blue Review

Colorbar Just Smokey Kajal is a double ended pencil with kajal at one end and the smudger at the other end. Both the ends of the pencil are fitted with black, plastic caps which can be interchanged. The pencil comes in Colorbar’s standard silver cardboard packaging with all the details about products and ingredients. The color of the eyeliner pencil is coordinated with the kajal shade making it easier to sort if you have multiple shades from this range. The silver detailing on the packaging is attractive which doesnot fade with time (unlike THIS eyeliner pencil).

Colorbar Just Smokey Kajal is soft and creamy and glides easily without any tugging or pulling on the eyelids. These are intensely pigmented and one swipe gives full coverage. These can be applied on waterline as kajal (kohl) or on eyelids as eyeliner. I like to wear it as eyeliner more than as kajal. When applied on waterline, it does not sting or make the eyes dry.

The smudger has dome shaped sponge tip which does a decent job in smudging to create a smokey look. But you have to be fast and smudge before this kajal sets. I use it only to smudge my kajal on waterline.  These kajal pencils are not smudge proof and do smudge when rubbed. The smudging is more if you have hooded eyes or oily eyelids. This is a long pencil and quantity is sufficient. But it needs to be sharpened which leads to product wastage.

Just Blue is a very unique shade which touches the right strings of my heart! It is a blackish blue/green color which looks amazing on brown eyes. I LOVE blackish (not black, black-ish! :P) eyeliners which are not black but some other color, but are so deep in color that it looks black, which makes it gorgeous and totally work-appropriate. It says blue but somehow looks deep green color to me. It looks blue/green after smudging, and looks blackish otherwise.

There is one small thing though, if you rub your eyes with this eyeliner on, or keep applying many layers of this, it starts to come off in flakes, like bits of an eraser 😐

Nonetheless, I absolutely love this shade and even though the I-glide range is better (and easier on pocket), I will still keep on repurchasing when it gets over. This is my second purchase already.

(See the smudging under the eyes?)

Overall, Colorbar Just smokey kajal in shade Just Blue is a gorgeous blackish blue/green eyeliner with a smudger at the other end. It is highly pigmented and applies like charm. One swipe is sufficient for full coverage. However, the pencil needs to be sharpened which leads to product wastage. Also, this is not smudge proof and it will smudge especially if you have hooded eyes and oily eyelids. If you try to smudge this kajal after it sets, it comes off in flakes which may irritate eyes. But nonetheless,  I will still repurchase this as I absolutely adore this blackish blue color.

Pssst, the nailpolish I am wearing in the pics above is one of the nailpolish in THIS post.

Revlon Nail Enamel : Splash ~ Review & Swatch

Revlon launched Glitzy Nights range last year and I picked this beautiful black-green glitter nailpolish from the range. I have reviewed the Revlon Colorstay range  previously and I absolutely LOVED it. You can check the review HERE.

Price: Rs 375 for 8 ml

Revlon Nail Enamel: Splash 507 review

Revlon Glitzy Nights Nail Enamel comes in classic Revlon Nail enamel glass bottle with black cap and gold detailing. The shade name is stickered on top.

The shade 507 Splash is a beautiful black- green glitter nailpolish with golden, green glitter suspended in sheer black base. The nailpolish is loaded with glitter and the brush picks up enough for uniform application.  The glitter is medium sized and not too chunky. It looks holographic in bottle, but not too much on the nails. The consistency is thick but it helps in applying the glitter uniformly on the nails. One coat is slightly sheer and 2 thick coats give full opacity. The brush is not great  and is rather thin. I hate thin brush in nailpolish as it leads to streaking and uneven application. But Splash being a glitter nailpolish, the streaks are not much visible.

These nailpolish stay put for 3 days with minimal tip wear, which is quite impressive as most nailpolish start to wear off by 3-4th day.

I have reviewed other Glitter nailpolish HERE.

Glitter nail polish are quite hard to remove, especially if you layer this polish a lot. You can remove such glitter polishes easily using the method I use HERE

Overall, Revlon Glitzy night Nail Enamel in shade 507 Splash is a beautiful golden-green glitter in black base. The glitter are medium sized and does not tug or pull. The stay of this nailpolish is impressive and stays on for 3-4 days with minimal tip wear. However, the brush is too thin for my liking. Also, the price is on the higher side. Other than that, this is a gorgeous party color, especially if you like dark colors.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail enamel: Noir Emerald ~ Review & Swatch

I have tried Avon nailpolish for the first time and I am reviewing a gorgeous shade from the Nailwear Pro+ range: Noir Emerald in this post.

Review of more shades will be coming soon.

Price: Rs 149

Availability:

Avon products can be bought from Avon representatives. You can also buy it online from Amazon/Nykaa/Purplle etc.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail enamel Noir Emerald review

I fell in love with this nailpolish as soon as I held this shade in my hand. This is one GORGEOUS color to have in your collection. And I cannot emphasise the word gorgeous enough! Noir Emerald is a beautiful darkened emerald color with green microshimmer. It looks more shimmery in the bottle than it actual is. I would have liked if the shade on nails was exactly as how it looks in the bottle. It is tad dark and less shimmery on the nails. This is blackish- emerald color (exactly as the name). But nevertheless, this is still a beautiful color and it is going to be my staple in coming months. This makes a gorgeous Fall color.

For more Fall colors check HERE, HERE

Avon Nailwear Pro+ nail enamel comes in a rectangular short packaging with shade name written on the front. The brush is decent, not too great, not too bad and covers the nail in two strokes. Noir emerald shade is sheer in one coat and it takes 2-3 coats to build the full color. It doesnot take too long to dry but it not super quick drying either. If you apply thin coats, the nailpolish dries quickly.

Removal is easy and quick with a good nailpolish remover and the shade didn’t stain my nails

This wears for 3 days on my nails after which it starts to chip. You can prolong the wear time by applying a top coat.

A quick boomerang from my instagram

Overall, if you love dark colors definitely check this shade. This is one gorgeous dark-emerald color with beautiful shimmer. It wears for 3 days but you can prolong the wear time by applying a top coat. I am impressed with Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nailpolish. It applies well and the shade is really pretty.

Revlon Volume+Length Magnified Mascara: Review

Revlon launched a new range of mascara recently and I picked the one for Lengthening + volume. There are 5 different mascara for different needs:

  • Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara.
  • Revlon Ultra Volume Mascara.
  • Revlon Super Length Mascara.
  • Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara.
  • Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara

They all vary in their brush shape and size. I am reviewing the  Volume+Length Magnified mascara here.

(Pssst, if you are into colored mascaras, I have reviewed a gorgeous bright blue mascara HERE)

• High shine black fiber formula provides amplified volume and length
• Revlon Magnifying Lash Brush™ – Square brush designed to anchor formula to lashes for intense volume + length

Price: Rs 1050

Revlon Volume+Length Magnified Mascara review

This range of mascara come in attractive packaging with different cap colors and brush for different effects. I donot like Revlon products’ packaging but this mascara has modernized the brand. The colour coded caps are a great idea to quickly identify the formula if you have multiple mascara from this range. Volume+Length Magnified mascara comes in sleek, flat, matte black packaging with dark blue cap. The white font is contrasting and looks attractive, which doesnot fade after multiple handling of the tube. The packaging is simple and classy. The brush has short as well as long bristles, which does a good job and makes the application easy. The brush coats the lashes richly and evenly. The brush is dense and the texture is fibrous which provides length. I need 2 coats for full effect. One coat is sufficient for subtle look.

I am a big fan of lush, voluminous lashes and this mascara gives fabulous lashes. Although this mascara doesnot give dramatic lashes, which is not its job anyway. This is a normal daily wear mascara which does its job of brightening up the eyes, adding length and volume decently.

It does not flake, is not irritating to eyes, is waterproof. Since this is a waterproof mascara, it makes the removal process quite tedious.

Now the downside of this mascara is that it is pricey! There are other cheaper mascara available in India to do the same decent job this mascara does. Also, this is a new launch and it is available only on counters and not online, as far as I know, but you can try this on Amazon.

Before application ↑

After 2 coats ↑ (applied on upper lashes)

Overall, Revlon Volume + Length Magnified mascara does its job of volumizing and lengthening decently. This is a great mascara for daily use when you dont want dramatic effect. However, this is on the pricey side and there are cheap alternatives available in market for the same effect. Also, this is waterproof and removing this mascara is a chore in itself.

Zig-Zag Nail Art

zig zag nail art

It has been a long time since I last posted a nail art, and so here I am posting a nail art which has been sitting quietly for many many months in a forgotten folder somewhere in my computer. (Eeeeee!)

This was supposed to be a color block nail art of pink and yellow, but then I added a zig zag line (just like that) with a nail art pen.

My nail art pen went gloopy, that is why there are random black lines here and there :-/

Maybelline Colorshow Gold Digger ~ Bling Thing 902 : Review & Swatch

Maybelline launched Gold Digger Collection in their Colorshow nail polish a while back and I will be reviewing a few of their shades in a series of posts. Here I am reviewing a gorgeous top coat from this range ~ Bling Thing 902.

Maybelline colorshow bling thing

Price: Rs 145

Bling Thing 902 is transparent nail polish with confetti of glitters. It consists of black and gold glitter in 3 sizes- small dot sized, medium hexagons and big chunky golden hexagonal. The big hexagons have holographic effect. One coat is sufficient to apply on top of another nail polish color, but you can apply two coats as well if you want to go overboard with the glitter and bling. In the photos below, I have applied 2 coats on my index finger and 1 coat on the rest.

The packaging is standard packaging of their Colorshow nailpolish. It comes in cylindrical glass bottle with black cap. The shade name is engraved on top of the cap. The brush is decent and picks up enough glitter to be applied in 1 coat. This nail polish is loaded with the glitters which remain suspended and does not settle down at the bottom of the bottle. The glitter does not tug and the nail polish settles into a smooth finish.

This is one funky confetti nail polish which can jazz up your nails in no time.

Read about another great Confetti nailpolish HERE

Being a glitter nailpolish, its removal is quite a pain. You can remove such glitter polishes easily using the method I use HERE

Colorbar Pro Black Crackle Top Coat : Review & Swatch

colorbar pro nail lacquer crackle

Crackle nail art is a lazy girl’s manicure saver. This is one of my favorite innovation in nail art.  I was browsing through my old archives and I stumbled on this nail polish from Colorbar. Now days the nail polishes have evolved and almost every brand have something or other for nail art. But 2 years back crackle (or shatter, whatever you like to call it) was really ‘in’ and it was the only polish even remotely related to nail art. I bought it 2-3 years back and because this nail polish is still available at the counters, I thought I would put my old photos to good use.

Colorbar was the first brand to bring in crackle nail polish. It is applied on top of another base color to create this shatter effect. I think every girl should have one crackle nail polish. And black color is the safest bet as it will go well with an array of colors. Plus, it is a perfect nail art for Lazy girls. For more nail art for Lazy girls, check another great polish HERE.

colorbar black crackle nail polish

Price: Rs 500

This nailpolish comes in a classic Colorbar Pro bottle which is a fat circular bottle (similar to OPI). The glass bottle is clear and the cap has shatter effect to indicate that it is a crackle polish. The brush is long and decently wide. The quantity is enough and will easily last atleast an year, that too if you apply it regularly. Unlike normal nail polish, crackle nail polish is slightly on thicker side. Colorbar Pro crackle nail polish dries into matte finish.

The crackle nail polish dries into a unique pattern everytime. The crackle effect depends on how thin you apply the coat. If you apply a thin coat, there will be many cracks, but not very widespread. If you apply a thicker coat, the number of cracks may be less but they will be apart enough for the base color to pop. I like to apply a thick layer.

Crackle nail polish is different from other nail polish mainly because it dries differently. This is because ethanol is added to the polish which makes it dry quick and uneven. So, as it dries rapidly and unevenly, the nail polish applied on nail shrinks giving the appearance of cracks and revealing the base color underneath.

Colorbar Pro crackle top coat dries completely within 3-5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the coat applied. I like to apply a clear nail polish over the crackled effect as it dries matte. It lasts 4-5 days before chipping.

One word of caution though, avoid doing multiple coats of this polish, and if you feel the coat is not thick enough to your liking, apply another coat really fast before the crackle effect of previous coat starts to show.

colorbar crackle

I have applied a thicker coat of this polish that is why the cracks are wide.

Notice the different shatter design on each finger.

crackle nail art india

Overall, I love this nailpolish. Colorbar Pro crackle top coat dries quick, gives a good crackle effect and wears well. Easy peasy, effortless and fun nail art in no time. Dries into matte finish which can be made glossier by adding a top coat of clear nail polish. However, it is a bit pricey.

Colorbar Black Fiesta Nail Lacquer ~ Masquerade : Review & Swatch

colorbar black fiesta masquerade

I am so excited while writing this post. This is the first time any nail polish brand has launched Polka dot/ Confetti / Graffiti nail polish in India. Maybelline Colorshow, Loreal had their entire Polka dots range in US but it never launched in India. Finally, Colorbar heard us nail art lovers’ plea and launched its amazing Black Fiesta collection.

Black Fiesta is a range of top coat from Colorbar which consists of matte glitter in various sizes and shapes. Overall, this nail polish gives a fun paint-splattered effect. This nail polish predominantly contain black specks and glitter along with the colored hexagonals, hence the name ‘Black’. This range is launched in four shades- Green Holiday (Green), Red Fete (Red), Merry Blue (Blue) and Masquerade (multi colored).

Price: Rs 500

When I saw these beauties sitting on the Colorbar counter, I didn’t think twice and immediately bought one. All the shades are equally beautiful and I had a tough time choosing the Masquerade one.

Colorbar Black Fiesta Masquerade Review

Packaging:

This comes in a round glass bottle which is sturdy and does not break if it slips your hand (Dont smash it on the floor to check its strength though!). The packaging is same as the Colorbar Pro Nail Lacquer (Rs 350 nail polishes) and the Glitterati range. The brush is long enough and perfectly wide which picks up the right amount of glitter and covers the entire nail in 2 strokes (I hate thin brushes in nail polish which not only require multiple application but also end up streaky). The shade name is written on top of the brush. This comes in 15 ml size which is HUGE. Even if you use this top coat religiously, it will last at least an entire year for sure.

Color:

Black Fiesta is a range of top coat, so the base color is transparent. The glitters in Masquerade contains

  • Medium sized hexagonals in different colors – peach, yellow, lime green, cobalt blue, red, light blue and red
  • black colored dots
  • little black strips

This nail polish is loaded with the glitters which remain suspended and does not settle down at the bottom of the bottle. The glitter does not tug and the nail polish settles into a smooth finish.

When you apply this top coat, the hexagonals may not spread evenly on their own and one has to spread and place them evenly themselves, especially if you are applying a thin coat.

But if you apply a thick coat or multiple strokes, the black dots and strips may cover the colored hexagonals making it more black and less colorful, as the hex (colors) get covered by the dots/strips.

The hexagonals do not fall off with time but the lighter ones do start to discolor around the edges after 4 days, but that is visible only if you look very closely so one need not worry. This nail polish is not fast drying. Even though the surface of polish dries fast and it feels dry to touch, but if you do some work involving your nails, this polish will smear.

Staying power:

I am IMPRESSED with the staying power. Normally nail polishes do not stay this long on my nails. Any nail polish I wear, I start seeing teeny tiny tip wear (especially on right hand) from next day itself. And by 3-4 days I start to see proper tip wear (not chipping). But this nail polish surprised me. It may be because this is a top coat and I usually do not wear a top coat. But overall, this is really long lasting. Stayed put for one week! (minor chipping on right hand started around 4- 5th day!).

As this is a glitter polish its removal is such a pain! Even more difficult than other regular glitter polish because of the hexagonals, which are not only bigger than other glitter but also sticks tightly to the nail. It will shred the cotton ball and will take a lot of time to remove completely. However, I’ve done a tutorial on how to remove such tough glitter polishes. Check it HERE. You will thank me later for this tutorial after you try removing it in conventional way 😀

Overall, I LOVE this nail polish. This is an amazing top coat for instant nail art. If you love nail art but don’t have the patience to do it, Black Fiesta range is the perfect solution for you- fun pop nail art in no time! It stays really really long and looks super chic. I am impressed. This is difficult to remove though. And I wish they came in smaller packaging. That way one can try all colors because c’mon,  nobody is going to buy all four colors at this price even if they wanted to (Unless, they work in nail art salon) 😀

Color Block Nail art

colorful nail art

Hi everyone

First of all… Happy newww year 🙂  I know I am almost a month late in wishing but better late than never, right?

So I thought of starting with this year on a rather colorful note. So here it is- *drumrolls* The Color Block nail art

Actually I did this nail art long back but somehow never posted it here. This nail art is inspired from the pic HERE. I kept the color combinations same as this is a vibrant combination and I wanted to keep it bright and colorful.

colorblock nails

This is a very simple nail art. All you need is a few colorful nailpolish, a black polish and a striping brush.

And if you don’t have a striping brush just grab an old nailpolish brush and trim it with scissors. You can also use a nail art pen if you have one.

You don’t have to be perfect while applying the basic colors. The black outline will hide the imperfect boundaries of the different colors 🙂

I have done color block nail art before as well.. check it HERE.
