Maybelline Lip Gradation lip color is hands down my favorite matte formula. Lip gradation range is around for sometime and I have 3 shades with me which I am reviewing in this post- Pink 1, Pink 2, Red 1.

Maybelline Lip Gradation Lip color Review

Maybelline Lip gradation lipstick come in swivel up retractable crayon packaging with color coded body. It has lipstick at one end and sponge smudger at the other end. The cap for lipstick end is black colored and smudger lid is translucent black color. The lipstick is smaller in width than normal lipsticks and thicker than lip liners, so it is quite convenient and easy to use especially around edges and corners. The twisting mechanism for swivelling action is at the smudger end and not on the body. The shade name is stickered on the smudger cap and manufacturing date is engraved on the body (below the logo).

Maybelline lip gradation lipstick is super smooth and glides like butter on the lips. It is non-drying and applies like a dream. The pigmentation is phenomenal and gives opaque coverage in single swipe. The texture of these lipstick is powdery and different from any other matte lipsticks I have tried. This lipstick is very comfortable to wear. Matte lipsticks tend to dry out the lips after a few hours, but this lipstick neither dries, nor hydrates the lips. This lipstick feels creamy to apply but settles to a perfect matte finish.

When this lipstick came out, Korean gradient lips were in trend and the smudger helps to achieve the look, where maximum intensity of color is at the centre of the lips and the intensity fades out along the edges. I, personally, was never a fan of that trend. The smudger, however, does a great job in blurring and fading the pigmentation.

This lipstick lasts very long. Even after meals, this lipstick stays put and fades only slightly from the inner rims. The pigmentation and color stays intact for a good 7-8 hours! Even after that it leaves a beautiful strong stain. This lipstick doesnot emphasizes dry bits of lips like other matte lipsticks usually do. It doesnot transfer much and does not settle into fine lines.

Everything one wants in a matte lipstick, Maybelline Lip gradation has it!

Only con I could think of is the quantity. The quantity is less than other lipsticks and so it will finish up early.

Pink 1 : soft pink color with warm tones. Perfect shade for summers. This shade will suit fair to medium skintones.

Pink 2 : deep pink color with warm tones. This shade will suit all skintones.

Red 1 : Brick red color with hints of brown. This is a mature shade and perfect for gifting to your mom. This shade will suit all skintones.

Overall, Maybelline Lip gradation lipsticks come in twist up crayon packaging with smudger at one end. The lipstick bullet is slimmer than other lipsticks and thicker than lip liners, so this is quite easy to use especially around edges and corners. The smudger is decent and fades/ blurs the color beautifully. This lipstick is non drying and super comfortable on the lips.  The pigmentation and longevity is the best among all matte lipsticks I have tried. It stays put for 7-8 hours and leaves a strong stain after that. Doesn’t budge even after meals. Pink 1 is a beautiful soft pink color which will suit fair to medium skin tones. Pink 2 is deeper pink color which will suit all skin tones. Red 1 is beautiful brick red color with brown tones which is perfect for mature ladies and will suit all skintones.

These are hands down the best matte lipsticks in this price range. I highly highly recommend these!

Chambor Extreme wear transfer proof liquid lipstick review

Chambor Extreme wear transfer proof liquid lipstick comes in a blue cardboard packaging with a shade number sticker on top. The packaging has all the details about the product. The lipstick tube packaging is flat and sleek with black screw cap. The liquid lipstick has elongated applicator which is easy to use. The applicator picks up enough product for one swipe. Being transparent, the shades are easy to spot if you have multiple shades. The shade number is sticker-ed on bottom of the tube. They do not have names to their shades, only numbers, which can get confusing sometimes.

Texture wise it is smooth and liquidy.  It feels like applying liquid on the lips.  These lipsticks are highly pigmented giving opaque coverage in single swipe. I still apply two swipes to be sure. Freshly applied, the texture looks glossy but it settles to true matte finish in sometime which does not budge. It is impressively long lasting (6 hours including meals and snacks), however, there is slight fading from inner rims when you eat something oily. It does not feel rubbery with touch up.

The liquid lipstick is highly pigmented which leaves room for errors while working along the outlines of the lips. I use a lip liner as I can never apply it properly.

Shade 406 Nocturne is a beautiful wine color with maroonish tinge. I fell in love with this shade the moment the SA swatched on my hand. If sexy and bold was a lipstick, 406 Nocturne would be its name. This shade brightens up complexion and will flatter all skin tones. Dusky beauties should definitely check this.

These lipsticks are comfortable to wear and feel lightweight. It dries down to super matte finish and does not make the lips feel parched. Liquid lipsticks tend to make the lips feel dry but this lipstick is comfortable to wear all day long. Do exfoliate the lips before applying any matte lipstick as it will cling to the dry bits of the lips accentuating them even more.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you are looking for long lasting true matte lipstick in wine color, do check this one out. It is superbly pigmented, gives opaque coverage in one swipe. Shade 406 (Nocturne) is a gorgeous wine color with maroon hints which will work on all skin tones. Chambor extreme wear liquid lipstick feels lightweight and is quite comfortable to wear. Overall, I am in love with these lipticks and will definitely repurchase it when it gets over 😀

Streetwear Color Rich Ultra Moist Lipstick: Pink Pirouette ~ Review & Swatch

Street wear launched these super affordable lipsticks a while back in a vibrant range of shades and I have a few Streetwear Color Rich Ultra moist lipsticks with me. I have already reviewed the shade Spell bound  ( Review HERE) before and here I am reviewing a beautiful orange shade from the range- Pink Pirouette.

Packaging:

These lipsticks come in cute packaging featuring pop art. The lid is transparent through which the color of bullet can be seen. The shade name is written at the bottom. But I hate that these lipsticks don’t swivel down all the way and some part peeks out of the bullet. This leads to nicks and cuts on the bullet while you put the lid on, no matter how careful you are 😦

 

Review:

Pink Pirouette is a beautiful true orange color. It is neither too pink nor red, the perfect Mirinda (cold drink) orange shade. Though the formula is sheer and does not give full color in one swipe, but the color is buildable. This lipstick has no traces of pink in it, I don’t know why it is named “Pink” Pirouette. As the color is sheer, you can build the orange-ness as per your liking. There are not many orange shades in drugstore brands and if you are looking for a budget orange lipstick, do give this one a try.

These lipsticks smell of vanilla which reminds me of MAC lipsticks. The texture is smooth and creamy and very comfortable to wear. It doesnot feel too heavy or too drying. The pigmentation is sheer on first coat but can be built up. It lasts 3-4 hours on me without meals after which it leaves a soft orange stain.

These lipsticks offer great quality for such cheap price (Rs 220). You are definitely getting your money’s worth, especially when these days even drugstore brands are charging huge price for lipsticks. With a great variety to choose from, college girls or makeup newbies should definitely check them out.

Streetwear Color Rich Ultra Moist Lipstick Spellbound : Review & Swatch

Street wear launched these super affordable lipsticks a while back in a vibrant range of shades and I have a few Streetwear Color Rich Ultra moist lipsticks with me. Instead of clubbing them all in one post, I will do a detailed post for each shade. In this post I am reviewing Spell Bound – a beautiful earthy rose color which will suit most Indian skintone.

Spellbound is a beautiful rose pink color with brownish undertones. It looks like a brown lipstick when you look at the bullet but it transforms into a beautiful earthy rose color on the lips. It is a natural pink-brown color which does not look too out there. This is a great color for everyday office wear and it will suit many skin tones. It will work across different age groups as well, especially those who like soft, natural colors. I gave this lipstick to my mother and she loves the color. This shade is neither too bright nor too dull – just the perfect subtle shade.

L’Oréal Rouge Caresse 04 Rose Mademoiselle: Review & Swatch

 

There are so many things which only the people born in 1990s get excited about. The internet is full of such posts: ‘Ten things only the people born in 1990s know’ or ’20 things you remember doing when you were a kid’. Well for me the cotton candy brings back the memories listed in such posts. Remember the cotton candy wale bhaiya came in the streets or even on the bustling roads. India Gate! How can I forget India Gate? It used to be full of balloon vendors and icecream vendors and cotton candy vendors. The soft, fluffy, melt-in-mouth pink sticky-sweet treat is something I love to eat even today. Speaking of cotton candy, this lipstick from L’Oreal totally reminds me of same. Only the color. I have not eaten it or anything ok? 😀

The pink cotton candy color, the soft buttery feel of this lipstick, the light-weightness- How can one NOT compare the two!

 

 Packaging

The packaging is sturdy, silver colored with transparent lid. It has a ‘Loreal Paris’ metallic embossing at the centre. It is similar to their Infallible range. The ends of the packaging are color coded.

Review

Like I said the color reminds me of cotton candy. It is cool-toned pink with slight frosty finish. The texture is smooth, buttery, non tugging and glides easily on the lips. The pigmentation is semi sheer at one swipe but the color is buildable. It does not go fully opaque so it may show pigmentation on the lips. It has a slight silvery sheen which makes it a little frosty. I could not deduce the fragrance accurately. Actually it is very similar to Nutri choice 5 grain biscuits 😀

It stays for 3-4 hours including meal after which it leaves a pretty pink stain. As it is moisturizing and the color is light, I find myself reaching for this lipstick instead of lipbalm in these hot summer days. This a perfect color for daily wear especially for college crowd.

The color will suit fair skinned beauties no doubt, but it may look more ‘frosty’ on darker toned people.

The right one is single swipe and the left one is multiple swipes for full color.

Overall, this lipstick  has a very pretty cotton-candy pink color. It is creamy and moisturizing. The color would look beautiful on fair to medium skin tone.
