Maybelline Superstay Gel Nail Color : Uptown Blue~ Review, Swatch

Maybelline has another range of nailpolish besides its Colorshow range- the Superstay range of nailpolish. This range of nailpolish is supposed to be long wear (as the name says) and give the finish of Gel nails. I have a few shades from this range and in this post I am reviewing a gorgeous pastel blue color – Uptown Blue

Price: Rs 350 for 10 ml

Maybelline Superstay Gel Nail Color 7 days: Uptown Blue Review

Maybelline Superstay Gel nail polish comes in a flat, glass packaging with white cap. The shade name is stickered on the top and the list of ingredients is at the back in peel off sticker form. Formula wise, these nailpolish are amazingly pigmented and creamy with glossy, plump finish. These are fast drying nailpolish. Apart from the formula, the next impressive thing about this nailpolish is the brush. The flat, wide, U-curve brush makes the application breezy and less prone to error, especially around cuticles. One coat is sufficient for full pigmentation if you apply carefully, but I have applied two coats in the swatches below.

Uptown Blue is a gorgeous surf blue color. You can call it pastel blue, or sky blue, but is more brighter and vibrant than either. I LOVE pastel colors and I love Blue so I had to but this shade (along with another pink color, shown in pic above) as soon as I spotted this at the Maybelline counters.

Now coming to the Superstay claim, this nailpolish does stick around for 5-6 days with minor tip wear, but I dont apply top coat and you can easily prolong the wear time by applying a top coat. I am a nailpolish hoarder and I know which nailpolish has better stay and which doesn’t. This nailpolish definitely is a win in long stay department.

Even though the price is more than the Colorshow range, so is the quality of this nailpolish. The higher price is totally justified. You will feel the difference between the two range as soon as you start to apply these.

Maybelline Superstay Gel nail color in shade Uptown Blue is VERY similar to the Maybelline Colorshow nailpolish in shade Blueberry Ice. If you are looking for a dupe, this is it. Even though they look similar, Uptown Blue is brighter than Blueberry Ice, even though it is not shown properly in pic below. And formula is any day better than the Colorshow one.

Overall, Maybelline Superstay Gel nail color in shade Uptown Blue is a beautiful surf blue color, (brighter than sky blue), the gorgeous vibrant pastel color making it ideal as spring/summer shade. The formula is creamy and highly pigmented. The wide, U-shaped brush makes the application incredibly easy. These are long lasting nailpolish and will last for 5-6 days at least if you wear it with a top coat. The formula is so nice that I have already bought a couple of more shades from this range. If you like such vibrant, pastel shades then definitely check this shade out, you will not be disappointed!

Pop of Blue – Tribal Nail art

tribal nail art

Spring/Summer is in full bloom now and its the perfect time to flaunt them bright paws. Though I do not follow this dark-for-winters or bright-for-summers thing religiously, I thought this bright, funky nail art is just perfect for this time.

I love tribal design. On clothes, on footwear, on nails- you give it to me and I will wear it happily. Actually I am on a hunt for bright funky tribal sandals for the summers. But I never seem to find the right one. Anyhoo, I hope you like my pop of blue nail art.

Actually I chose this combination of orange and blue accidentally. I wanted to wear orange nail polish and suddenly I spotted this blue one and I wanted to wear this one too. And I thought why not  mix ’em up and have some fun 😀

I have done tribal nail art before as well. Check it HERE. I have created the design using nail art pen. You can use an old eye liner brush as well.

Color Block Nail Art using Maybelline Color Show Polish

maybelline colorshow

Color blocking has been in trend for a long time now and I was surprised I have never done any color-block nail art. And now having many Maybelline Color Show polishes in my kitty, i thought why not put them to some good use. So this is how I color blocked my nails. 🙂

I have done another nail art using Colorshow polish. You can check it HERE

I have used the shades Blueberry ice, Blackcurrant pop and Bold gold.

Striping tape would have looked better and crisp than the black separating lines (which I coudnt draw neatly as my polish had gone gloopy). But since i donot have striping tapes, I had to make do with black polish.

You can replace the gold part with the glitter polishes that Maybelline launched in its Colorshow range recently.

Color block is one of the easiest nail arts to do. If you are a beginner, you should definitely give this a try.

Hope you find it useful

Love,

Blossom
